Dr. Stella Wanjala

Highly accomplished expert in climate change, environmental conservation, gender, community development, and institutional leadership, with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of ecosystems, livelihoods, and community well-being. She is widely recognized for advancing community-driven, science-based climate solutions and for pioneering women-led natural resource management models across Africa. She is the Founder and Lead Researcher, Institute of Climate Restoration for Africa (ICRA), where she champions the integration of science, communities, and climate action across the continent.

A forward-looking strategist and thought leader in ecology, gender, and environmental sustainability, Dr. Wanjala has an exceptional track record of designing and implementing transformative programs that promote social equity, resilience, and inclusive development across Sub-Saharan Africa. Her work seamlessly integrates biodiversity conservation, gender mainstreaming, and policy engagement, delivering measurable impact through research, advocacy, capacity building, and technical assistance.

She is deeply committed to advancing gender-transformative climate action aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 5, 13, and 16), and champions citizen science as a tool for climate justice, elevating African practice to globally recognized standards.
